We, as Americans, have the right, privilege and responsibility to vote. If we don't we have no right to complain about anything in this country...
And more importantly, we as Christians have the right, privilege and responsibility to pray for our nation and leaders. Like the Dwight D. Eisenhower quote, I say the future of this republic is in the hands of the Christians, we MUST prayer for our nation.
Luke 12:48 says to who much is given, much is required. We have been given much freedom and much liberty, we have much in America! God has given us much in this nation, we have to ability to do MUCH good for the kingdom!
But, much is now required of us...if we want to keep having much, we have to do what is required of us, which is pray! We HAVE to pray for our nation and our leaders...
There is a mandate on Christians to rise up, take their place of prayer, take their place of authority and BE the body of Christ! We have to, NOW is the time!
If the church isn't praying for our nation, who is?

You know what else that made me think?
You said "We have been given much freedom and liberty." You were exactly right on about using that in a way that honors God and is responsible.
Its time for Christians to quit sitting on their hands when there is a whole huge world out there that doesn't have nearly the freedoms or resources we have. It is so easy to forget about them when we're worried about paying rent or putting gas in our cars. But we are Biblically mandated to use our freedom to help free others. (And, of course, to pray for our nation so that we can continue to have this freedom).

So true, we also need to remember not to QUIT praying when the elections are over! We need to have this intensity in prayer all of the time!
